COMCAST SERVER SMTP SETTINGS

 

It’s quite annoying to check all your Comcast emails by accessing your account each time from a web browser. To avoid such a situation, you can configure your email account in an email client, and for this, you need the correct Comcast server SMTP settings.POP (Post Office Protocol) or IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is for receiving emails. You have to use either one while configuring your Comcast email account in an email client. SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is responsible for sending emails.

Incoming mail server (IMAP) – Comcast

  • Server name – imap.comcast.net
  • Port – 993
  • Encryption – Yes, required (SSL)

Incoming mail server (POP) – Comcast

  • Server name – pop3.comcast.net
  • Port – 995
  • Encryption – Yes, required (SSL)

Outgoing mail server (SMTP) – Comcast

  • Server name – smtp.comcast.net
  • Port – 587 or 465
  • Encryption – TLS or SSL

Manual setup of Comcast using SMTP in Outlook 2010

 

  • Launch the Microsoft Outlook 2010email client.
  • Navigate to the File
  • Choose the Account Settingsoption from the Account Settings drop-down menu.
  • To configure a new email account, click the New
  • Choose E-mail Accountand click Next.
  • To manually configure your Comcast email account, choose the Manually configure server settings or additional server typesoption and click Next.
  • Select the Internet E-mailoption and click the Next
  • Provide the following Comcast server SMTP settings.

    User Information

    • Your name– Your full name
    • Email Address– Your Comcast email address

    Server Information

    • Account Type– Select either POP or IMAP depending on your choice
    • Incoming mail server– imap.comcast.net (for IMAP) or pop3.comcast.net (for POP)
    • Outgoing mail server– smtp.comcast.net

Logon Information

    • User Name– Your Comcast email address
    • Password– Your Comcast password
  • To save your email account password in Outlook 2010, select the Remember Password
  • Tospecify any additional server settings, click the More Settings
  • When the Internet E-mail Settingsdialog window opens, click the Outgoing Server
  • TheMy outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox must be selected.
  • Now, choose the Use same settings as my incoming mail server
  • In the Advanced tab, enter the details as given below.
  • Incoming server– 993 (for IMAP) or 995 (for POP)
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection– SSL
  • Outgoing server (SMTP)– 587
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection– TLS
  • Click the OK
  • In the POP and IMAP Account Settingswindow, click the Next
  • Wait until Outlook applies the Comcast server SMTP settings.
  • Once done, close the email setup wizard.

 

Manual setup of Comcast using SMTP in Apple Mail 7

 

  • Open the Apple Mail 7email client.
  • In theMail tab, select the Add Account
  • Click theAdd Other Mail Account
  • Enter the Comcast email account information as given below in the Add a Mail Account
  • Full Name– Your display name
  • Email Address– Your Comcast email address
  • Password– Your Comcast email account password
  • Click the Next
  • When the Incoming Mail Server Infowindow opens, provide the following Comcast server IMAP settings and click Next.
  • Account Type– IMAP or POP
  • Mail Server– imap.comcast.net or pop3.comcast.net
  • User Name– Your Comcast email address without a domain name
  • Password– Your Comcast email password
  • Enter the Comcast server SMTP settingsas given below and click Create in the Outgoing Mail Server Info
  • SMTP Server– smtp.comcast.net
  • User Name– Your Comcast email address without a domain name
  • Password– Your Comcast email password
  • Now, you can use your Comcast email account in Apple Mail7.

 

Manual setup of Comcast using SMTP in Windows Live Mail 2011

 

  • Launch the Windows Live Mail
  • Navigate to the Accountstab displayed at the top.
  • Click theEmail
  • In the Add your email accountswindow, fill the following fields.
  • Email address– Your Comcast email address
  • Password– Your Comcast email password
  • Display name for your sent message– Your full name
  • To configure your Comcast email account manually, select the Manually configure server settings
  • Click the Next
  • Provide the Comcast incoming server settings as given below.
  • Server Type– IMAP or POP
  • Server address– imap.comcast.net or pop3.comcast.net
  • Port– 993 or 995
  • Authenticate using – Clear text
  • Login user name– Your Comcast username
  • Enter the Comcast server SMTP settingsand click Next.
  • Server address– smtp.comcast.net
  • Port– 587
  • Select the checkbox next to the following options.
  • Requires a secure connection (SSL)
  • Requires authentication
